The 5 Best Ways to Start Your New Year off Right!

Happy New Year! 2017 was definitely a year full of growth and exploration for me. I am excited for the New Year and ready to hit the ground running working harder than ever before! This week I will share with you my top 5 ways to start the New Year on "the right foot".

1. DON'T MAKE A RESOLUTION...

but DO set GOALS. I don’t like to do resolutions because people typically tend to poop out of their New Years resolutions with in a few weeks (or months if we’re lucky!). Instead of resolutions, I enjoy setting GOALS for myself with timelines and deadlines. This way you don’t let an entire year sneak by and end up disappointed when you haven’t accomplished what you wanted. A goal with out a timeline is nothing but a dream. It’s great to dream, and I am definitely a dreamer too, but remember to set realistic goals that will push your limits. 

 

2. Stretch!

Whether it’s taking a few minutes just to yourself after a good workout or taking a yoga class, the physical stretching of your muscles is scientifically proven to release stress and will help equip you with the mind set you need to tackle the new year. My favorite way to stretch is to take a yoga class from Katie Tull. Katie and I share the same mother agency, and she is such a talented yoga instructor! Her classes never fail to leave me feeling my best and always pushes my limits of flexibility.

 

3. Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone

With the new year, should come new exploration! Whether it’s trying an exotic sounding fruit, or talking to somebody new, stepping outside of your comfort zone and doing something different is another great way to refresh yourself and meet new goals. For me personally, I never liked the look of dried dates. So, I decided to try this brown sticky fruit for the first time! I was in the mood for something different and they were calling to me so I gave them a try. I am so happy I did because now they are one of my favorite sweet treats! Also, I recently worked a 20 hour modeling job which had been a difficult and challenging experience when I worked with the same company previously. Even though I didn't think I could muster it up to work for this company again, I pushed myself to do the booking and I believe I am stronger person because of it.

 

4. Sweat!

I cant emphasize enough how important it is to take time to workout! Whether it’s a short 15 min walk around the block, or taking a spin class, both will clear your head, at least briefly, and allow for you to get some endorphins flowing which will in turn boost your mood!

 

5. Lastly, THANK Others!

In our busy everyday worlds, it is easy to forget or take for granted the things others do for us. Taking a moment to remind our selves to be present, and treat others with lots of gratitude in this new year will not only benefit you, but everyone around you!
