Charcoal Mask vs. Charcoal Mask

January 1, 2018

I’m sure one thing we can ALL agree on is that we want to have healthy skin! No matter if you have acne and want clear skin, or you have decent skin but just want an extra-healthy glow, we all want to better our skin in one way or another. Lately, much has been discussed about the charcoal face masks on social media. The use of charcoal is currently very trendy and popular because it is a great detoxifier for your skin, and it draws out impurities from tissues. I decided to test 2 different charcoal face masks and see which I like and would recommend!

The first: Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment

Glam Glow’s mud mask was priced at 70$ from Sephora. In my opinion, that is a wee bit pricey... but, I’ve heard rave reviews so I decided to go for it and hope for amazing results! Prior to applying the mask, I took a nice hot shower, washed my face, and applied a hot compress to my face to ensure my pores were really open. Then, it was time for the mask. I applied a layer of it on my entire face and set my timer for 20min. Instantly, it felt very cold, a little tingly, and like something must be happening! As it dried, it turned to a lighter gray color and you could see bubbling around some of the pores. Finally, the timer dinged! I removed the mask with a wet washcloth and voila! My skin felt so soft and instantly looked clearer. It was not anything drastic, but it gave a nice healthy glow and feel to my skin.

The Second: Beecause Charcoal & Clay

I got this mask from Anthropologie for 14$. This brand is relatively new and what appealed to me so much about them is how raw and natural their ingredients are! The only ingredients in this mask were: raw honey, bentonite clay, and activated charcoal.

The consistency of this mask was much more ooey-gooey and liquid. It also had a texture about it that felt like it would do a much better job exfoliating. It did not go on quite as thick as Glam Glow, yet, it smelled amazing and felt very soothing too! I did the same prep prior to putting the mask on, set my timer for 15 minutes and went about my night. The timer went off, and it was time to take it off! I washed it off with a wash cloth, and once again I was pleasantly surprised. My skin had a nice glow to it and felt so soft!

The conclusion:
I will definitely be using both these masks again! Both left my skin feeling amazing, yet they have different effects in my skin. I felt that the Glam Glow Mudmask was a lot stronger and had more of an effect on my skin, while the Beecause mask was much more gentle. I liked both equally, yet, depending on what you are looking for you may choose one over the other.
